La Resistencia Press was born in 2018 as a natural response to yt supremacy in the publishing world. LRP seeks to publish BIPOC authors who are early in their publishing careers, to create a stepping stone for bigger accolades and opportunities. It is our mission to preserve and promote Global Majority authors to wider audiences to combat racism, stereotyping, and erasure. We earnestly believe in the perpetual talent and insight of our authors to show us their world, to be preserved in this moment in time.
When Founder MG Salazar was ready to publish their third book, they did not want a repeat of their previous experiences working with people who did not understand the culture. They decided to publish on their own - a decision which has led to multiple grants, widespread media coverage, and multiple books by first-time BIPOC authors. La Resistencia Press has sold out of every single book's first run since its inception, and has had publications acquired by some of the most prestigious institutions in the United States.
We can't stop. We won't stop. This is an Art Uprising.
